Capitol Hill Hotel
This is the hotel we stayed at and I can definitely recommend it. I consider it a budget hotel – the price was very reasonable for the location and city. Our room had two double beds, a private bathroom and a kitchenette. The room was larger than usual and very comfortable. Our booking also included complimentary breakfast, which was great and a good variety of food was offered. The hotel also has a gym, but the best part of the hotel for us was the location and the free icy cold water, snacks and coffee/tea offered in the hotel library area.
After a long day of exploring Washington, this was such a blessing to have! The hotel offers free bicycle rentals and the staff was excellent!

Yotel Washington DC
This is another budget hotel in Washington DC near the National Mall. Although not as close to the National Mall as the Capitol Hill Hotel, the lower price makes up for the longer distance from the National Mall.
The hotel has a swimming pool and comfortable rooms. It is close to Union Station and a stop for the Big Bus sightseeing bus. It is located near many restaurants, making it perfect for exploring Washington DC. Guests mentioned the superior cleanliness of the hotel and the friendliness of the staff. Something to bear in mind is that breakfast is not included in the price of the hotel rooms.

Hyatt Regency Washington
I would not normally associate the Hyatt hotels as budget hotels, but the prices on Agoda for this hotel are really good and places it in the same range as the Capitol Hill Hotel and the Yotel Washington DC.
The Hyatt Regency Washington DC is located around the corner from the Yotel Washington DC. It is within walking distance from the National Mall and the Union Metro station. This hotel offers a swimming pool, fitness centre, bar and restaurant on-site. Breakfast is not included in the price of the hotel room and many guests found that the buffet breakfast lacked variety. Guests mentioned the high level of cleanliness in the hotel and that the hotel rooms were small.

Phoenix Park Hotel
This is another budget Washington DC hotel option near the National Mall. The Phoenix Park Hotel is a little further from the National Mall and Capitol Hill than the hotels already mentioned, but it is located near the Union Metro Station and Union Station where Amtrak trains depart from.
Guests mentioned the location as wonderful. The hotel had a classic feel to it. Guests also mentioned that the rooms were tiny with just enough space for a bed. The hotel does not offer breakfast, but there is a pub next door where you can get a quick meal.

Washington Court Hotel
The Washington Court Hotel is not a budget hotel; it is slightly above the budget hotel price range for Washington DC. The hotel offers an on-site fitness centre and bar/lounge. The location is within walking distance of the Union Metro station and the National Mall. Breakfast is not included in the price of the room.

Holiday Inn Washington-Capitol
The Holiday Inn Washington-Capitol is in the same price range as the Washington Court Hotel, but it is located right next to the National Mall.
The hotel offers a swimming pool and offers breakfast – just check, some room prices don’t include breakfast. Guests mentioned that the hotel is clean and the staff friendly. A feature that none of the other hotels on this list has is the self-service laundry facilities the Holiday Inn Washington-Capitol offers, which is helpful when you spend several days in Washington DC and did not pack a ton!

Hilton Washington DC National Mall
The Hilton Washington DC National Mall is the most expensive of the Washington DC hotels near the National Mall. It offers a swimming pool and a solarium, something the other hotels do not offer. The hotel has a bar, restaurant and coffee shop on-site. Guests found the room spacious and clean, but several guests complained about the staff not being friendly or helpful.

These are six Washington DC hotels near Capitol Hill. They range in price and include budget to luxury hotel options. When I visited Washington DC, I stayed at the Capitol Hill Hotel. I would definitely want to say in the same area if I were to return. I would try the Capitol Hill Hotel first and if not available, I will try the Yotel Washington.
