Recommended travel resources – accommodation
For a discount on your first AirBnB booking, use this link. I used AirBnB for the first time last year when we visited Wilderness, South Africa. They have a large variety of places you can book, from rooms to whole properties. There really is something for everyone!
There are 2 other accommodation booking sites I use apart from AirBnB. These are:
- Booking.com. This site now also offers normal vacation rentals in addition to hotel bookings. I love booking.com mostly because many of the properties you can book at can be canceled up to, for example, two days before you are due to check-in. I often book properties and closer to the time I change the bookings to cheaper ones. The closer to the check-in date, the cheaper you sometimes get if you are willing to do a non-cancellable booking. Booking.com also has genius awards for frequent travelers. These could include late check-outs or free airport shuttles.
- I use Agoda whenever we travel to Asia. I find they offer the best deals for South-East Asia. We found a lovely hotel for a reasonable price on Agoda when we visited Penang in Malaysia. They do offer hotels and other types of accommodation in other destinations as well. I usually see what they have before booking on another site since they have significant discounts from time to time. Agoda now offers a rewards program where you can earn points or miles. You also get money back with ebates when you book through Agoda.
Recommended travel resources – travel insurance for pregnant ladies
- Holidaysafe. It’s wrong to assume being pregnant prevents you from jetting off on the holiday of a lifetime. Regardless of the stage of pregnancy, this resource by Holidaysafe will provide travelers with the confidence to head abroad, safe in the knowledge they’re doing no harm to themselves or their baby.
Recommended blogging resources – domain names
Recommended blogging resources – WordPress themes
I used to use free themes until I discovered the Elise theme – a child theme for the Genesis framework theme. I love the Genesis themes; they are fast and pretty. Setting them up is easy and customizing even easier. I have heard they are excellent for SEO!
Recommended blogging resources – Wealthy Affiliate
Wealthy Affiliate is a fantastic resource for any website you may want to start. It provides training on all aspects of having a blog or online business. Even with the free version, Wealthy Affiliate offers a lot, such as affiliate and other training. Wealthy Affiliate offers free hosting for up to 2 websites for free members and also a keyword tool for keyword research. For premium members, there are even more benefits. In fact, I use Wealthy Affiliate’s hosting for Focused Travels. I love the discussion board/blogging functionality on the site as it is very active and support from other members are pretty amazing!
Recommended blogging resources – Email marketing
When I first started my mailing list, I used MailerLite. I found it relatively easy to use and set-up PLUS as long as your subscribers are less than 2000, your account remains free.
Now I am using MailerLite. It is an email marketing service that is relatively new, but I find it even easier to use than MailChimp and offers some advanced features for free as long as you have less than 1000 subscribers. Thereafter, you start paying an affordable amount per month. Why not give it a try?
